No, it isn't back yet.

We ran into an issue that prevented me from hiring a web guru and another artist. The issue wasn't our fault, but it did throw things off quite a bit. Since I can't hire outside help, everything slows down - a lot. I'm now shooting for the end of November or so.

On the plus side, at least you know something.

If you're getting impatient, well, sorry about that. I know it's frustrating, but hang in there. :)

Alright, so... I'm hoping to have the site done by the start of November / end of October.

Tracy's still finishing a book project, so there is not a big rush on my end to get the new site up right away. I'm hoping to schedule a chunk of time just for Catena after the current book project is over, but the schedule really depends on the publisher.

Thanks to those of you who came to visit us at the Baltimore Comic-Con! Our next convention appearance probably won't be until next spring.

Catena isn't going to update for a while because I need to redo the website.

If you want to see changes, now is the time to request them. :)

Preliminary notes:

I plan to have a comic archive.
There might be an area for comments - maybe.
There will probably not be a forum.
There will be advertisement banners.
There probably will be some sort of store front.

Updates may be a little spotty after this, but hopefully not. I have some guest artists working on filler strips. If you are one of those artists and haven't gotten your script then it'll be out by Monday night. Sorry about that. x_x

Tracy is going to take some time off to prevent burn-out and work on other projects. I'm going to spend the time making another website. The new website will be set up to help us generate some cash-flow with banner ads and a store. The old site will go away, so if you see anything on there that you absolutely must have, save it now.

A lot of people we met at Comic Con San Diego thought that handling Catena was my full-time job. I was flattered by that, but it really isn't the case. I work a regular job that eats most of my day, and Tracy spends most of her day illustrating books. Catena actually gets made on the weekends. Sometimes I think up scripts on my drive home and sometimes we'll come up with something together at the dinner table. Sometimes Starbucks is involved. We like Starbucks.

Keep telling your friends - pretty please. If we get a large enough viewing audience maybe we can do more! :)

I wrote three shorts for one of the guest artists, so those will be going out Thursday morning after they're checked for humor and spelling.

The other one is a bit longer and I have to write it first.

The beach story will continue next week too.

Hello all!

Instead of drawing and writing we spent the weekend sick. :P I guess we caught something that put the ick back in Comick-Con. Hah. Hah. *cough* Anyway, we'll get back to our regularly scheduled program next week.

If you were waiting for a script over the weekend it just got pushed back a few days. Sorry about that. I slept most of the weekend. :)

We made it back from Comic-Con 2009 San Diego late last night.

We got to meet some really neat people. Thanks to all who stopped by! Be sure to send me an e-mail if we got to talk. I'll also try to input all the business card information I got while I was there. If you got art cards when we were handing them out please enjoy them! :D

The next convention we're likely to appear at is Baltimore Comic-Con in October. I'll have more information on that later.

Well, we're leaving tomorrow and won't be back until next week.

The comic won't updated until we get back. I don't have an automatic mechanism for that and getting on the internet from Comic-Con may be dicey, not to mention lack of tablet and scanner.

I have some guest artists coming in and some comics besides Catena lined up for the fall/winter. We'll be printing books and I'll probably be moving to a Wordpress/Comicpress system to handle the entire site. That change will give us a new archive system. I know some of you hated the old one (see, I do listen).

We have some fan art that is going to go up after Comic-Con is over. Sorry about the delay, folks!

As far as Comic-Con goes, we'll be at booth 2002. We won't be there the entire time, but feel free to stop by whenever and say "Hi!". Hopefully we'll be there to say "HI!" back, and if not you'll meet some cool artists anyway. Sorry, but I don't have a full schedule. I'll try to post one before we leave. :)

Here's this week's Catena update.

We don't have any sort of buffer for Catena, so when there is any kind of extra work whatsoever, the comic is the first thing to grind to a halt.

Fear not, I'll have something up next month and maybe some doodles in between.

At the moment, we're gearing up for Comic-Con in San Diego. We'll be with Blue Dream Studios for a while signing Gary the Pirate and then eventually I imagine that we'll be wandering around in general.

There won't be any Catena merchandise at Comic-Con at all - sorry. We don't actually have anything to sell right now and we don't have a booth to sell it at anyway. ;) I'm sure there will be copies of Gary the Pirate around though, so feel free to grab that up if you can!

Just keep reading this LJ for news. I may even post a con report next month when we get back.

I hope everyone is staying cool in July. I know we're having a tough time of it. Ugh!

At the end of this month we'll be at Comicon in San Diego. Is anyone else going to be there? We'll be there the entire time it runs, including "preview night".

I hope everyone has had a good time with Catena in the last year. We will almost certainly be taking a vacation from the strip in August, with hopes to return in the fall. One of the firms we work for has some deadlines that must be met soon. Since I need to help with the project, I won't have time to write any more script!

On the plus side, this gives us a little time to regroup and redo the site like I wanted, get some things actually printed up, and maybe start some of the other stuff I wanted to start last year. You'll have to see when we return.

You can check this journal for updates. I'll probably update it at least once a week whether the comic updates or not.

And yes, we will be finishing the beach episode before we leave, so please keep coming back! :)

I honestly have no idea what Treiss is doing, but she appears to be having fun.

I am thinking about using Wordpress and Comicpress so that we can automate some of the less-automated features of the website. That would also make it easy for me to place ads on the site.

I know everyone grumbles about ads, and that's fine. On my side of the coin, the site costs money to run, there's significant opportunity cost in making the comic itself, and people who really hate ads can always use Firefox and Adblock. ;)

On the plus side, the ads will most likely be for other webcomics, so... It should be fun - assuming I can make it all work.

Edit The site is getting hammered or something, so the comic may be slow loading. I'll try to look at it tonight. For now, you can try reloading or you can try again tomorrow. Sorry!

Edit 2 Our web provider has reported that it is recovering from a power outage. The site will probably be unavailable until they get everything powered back up. It's a big provider, so they have procedures for this sort of thing. If Catena's not back online today, try again tomorrow. Thanks! :)
